Finally, the conditioner transforms hardness minerals so they cannot cement onto your pipes, water heater or fixtures as scale. The minerals stay in the water — calcium and magnesium are actually good for you — they just lose their ability to stick.

The conditioning media is rated for roughly 800,000 gallons — years of everyday use for a typical household. The only regular upkeep is a quick pre-filter swap about once a year.
